INNOUNITA PROJECT - Innovation Capacity Building in UNITA
The Innovation Capacity Building in UNITA (INNOUNITA) project is one of the 24 pilot projects approved under the EIT HEI INITIATIVE Pilot Call, which was launched by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). It aims higher education institutions to design activities that will improve their entrepreneurial and innovation capacity. More specifically, the initiative aims to encourage these institutions to look at their own practices and develop concrete actions to increase their impact on their ecosystems.
The INNOUNITA project is based on the UNITA University alliance, which gathers six comprehensive research universities from five countries, gathering together more than 160,000 students and 15,000 staff members. From West to East: Universidade de Beira Interior, Universidad de Zaragoza, Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour, Université Savoie Mont Blanc, Università di Torino and Universitatea de Vest din Timisoara
Through INNOUNITA, the experiences and approaches developed by the partners to promote and support innovation and entrepreneurship in the staff and student community will be shared, in order to set and develop a common ground for promoting entrepreneurial mindsets and strengthening the impact of higher education institutions in the innovation ecosystem.
The project is organised in a way that will aim to create a smart, creative pipeline for young innovators, from high schools to start-ups or research and development activities, making participants aware (and possibly active users) of all the EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities’ portfolio programmes.
The project, which started in July 2021, will run for 2 years. This project has received funding form the European Union, in particular 400,000€ for phase 1 and 800,000€ for phase 2.
